This I Believe

You are probably thinking about your "This I Believe" essay.  For this last blog discussion, explain what your core belief is.  What belief is the center of your life and actions and attitude.  What belief drives your life? If we had class on Tuesday, we would have done this there.

I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for such a good class.  I can't adequately tell you what it means to me as a teacher to have a group of students teach me so much--and remind me repeatedly what a joy and blessing my job is.  Best of luck to you all.  Look me up now and again.

  1. This I believe...
No matter what environment we grow up in,
No matter who are parents are,
No matter how rich or poor we are,
No matter how intelligent we are,
WE determine our own DESTINY. We are the captiain of our ship.

For what ever reason, God loved us so much, that He placed inside us a Sprite that is more powerful than anything man could ever invent.

This sprite is unequalled, and is controlled by no other man. We are the architect of ourself. We have the will to make our own choices which will determine what kind of person we will grow up to be. Our potential is unlimited.

We introject our own value system, either by experience or knowledge. We pick and choose what we believe is right or what is wrong. This leads us to becomming responsible for our actions. It is all about the "Self", us.

Most people tend to follow the croud and are afraid to take chances. I believe that through our life experiences, we break away from the crowd and become independence and then we learn how to make responsible choices.

It is not an easy thing to do but, if we have the courage, we eventually become the best person we can be and we do it all by ourselves.

    Adios,

    Francisco

  2. This I believe...

I believe in compassion. I believe that all humans have the ability to feel compassion which, leads to many other emotions such as, love, faith, hope, kindness, etc. I believe that we all have a place in our hearts to feel compassion, although, not everyone practices/engages in it. I believe in humanity--I believe that in times of need and fear we all want to help/make eachother feel comforted...I believe that if someone was dieing on the side of the road we would all do something about it...I believe that when we as a people witness and are put through hardships we all feel sympathy and sadness for eachother. I believe in faith and love and trusting eachother. And I believe so much more but at this time I am over-whelming my self with wanting to write it all down so...Dr. Battles...I am going to elaborate on my essay and build myself a rough draft before... I confuse myself. And you're right this is harder than I thought...it takes some serious thought.

  3. I believe in individual choice and expression. I think that everyone has a right to be themselves without having to worry about society pressuring them to look, act, and think a certain way. I believe that if a person's choices and behaviors are not infringing upon the individual freedoms and rights of others, then it is ok to be different. In reality there is no such thing as "different" because people generally strive to be a certain way and they just tend to mold themselves after others, but even so, I think people should have a right to pursue what they believe is their true expression of individuality. Too often, people are judged based on their appearance or their specific tastes in music, literature, or lack thereof...But most of the time when people judge others, they are wrong. So I guess what I'm trying to say is just let other people be who they are without putting your judgments upon them. We all have different backgrounds and tastes, blah blah, but we all have a right to be who we want to be just so long as we are not endangering anybody's lives. As far as youth goes, the older and wiser recognize a phase when they see one, so the best route would be just to shake one's head and mumble under one's breath about the kids these days :)

  4. fggonzalez,

you talk about destiny and how we control it (which i agree with by the way) but it is apparent that this is not the only value that runs your life. obviously you put a lot of faith in God and that is something i believe you should mention in your paper. :)

  5. I believe in family. I believe that no matter what family will always be their for you. They are their through thick and thin to help you out no matter what. Sometime they don’t have to be blood relative family, because we are all family. Maybe not by blood but we are one society and we should be help each other and look out for each other, like a family. My family is always there for each other. My friends, whom I consider family, are always their to help me or anyone else who needs it. They always have my back and in my opinion a family or friends should always have your back.

  6. I believe that we as humans should do what we can to better the world for ourselves and for others around us. We should do what makes us happy as long as it does not hurt us, those around us, or those that love us to a degree that they cannot function properly as content human beings. The choices we make are our own and no one else's, but we should also be willing to make choices that are morally sound. This is a hard task, for there is no "morally sound" manual for human beings to follow so we, with our follies and vices, are left to decide for ourselves what the standard is. As human beings vary, so will the standard. We just have to remember that we are all equal and we should love one another until they give us a reason not to. Even then, we should be willing to forgive, should they ask for forgiveness.
There are so many issues I could go on about, but I think the vast majority of them would be solved if we would think of other beings as we would think of ourselves.

  7. I believe... That there is good in every person. although i am aware that there is "evil" people out there.. the good always outshines. I also believe in being oblivious. I understand the reality of situations;however, if i just act like it will be okay to ignore them, the result will be good. I also believe in helping others before helping myself. I'm a giver and a pleaser and not a receiver or taker. Those are the main points that i will touch up on in my This I believe essay. I'm lookin forward to writing it and also learning a little more about myself.

  8. I believe that we all have the power to make our goals and dreams come true. Many of the times we see ourselves going through the hardest, and impossible times, and those are the times when we feel like giving up. But I believe that we have the self-power to do whatever we want to do. People may get in our ways, but our self-power is stronger than any other influence a person may have on us. If we can over come all the dilemas, and problems our daily life puts us through we can do what we always have wished for.

  9. I believe in love, love for my family, love for myself and love for strangers. I think the value of loves governs every decision that we make in our lives. The decisions can be small choices that we make every day to complex decisions that will change our lives. No matter what the choice is love, is the main force that will determine the ultimate decision. We demonstrate love in every aspect of our lives and sometimes we rank the importance of love for each individual thing. We might pick a decision that demonstrates love for ourselves instead of love for the stranger on the street. The key to value of love is that it most reflects who a person is by whom they love the most.

  10. I believe in the value of family and working hard for things that are worth working hard for. The idea of family represents stability and love. I value family because they are the people in which we can depend on, to trust, to know that whatever happens they wouldn't judge you.Family is the foundation of my life and there's no way I see myself parting from that. Working hard drives my life because I believe that if you don't work hard for anything then what's the point of even being here. Everything in my life I have worked hard for because I value that. When you work hard for something you value it more you become more responsible and mature through that. Working hard is better than having things handed to because then you don't value it and you take it for granted after awhile. But you have to have the motivation to work hard or there is no point in trying at all.
